The Race starts at 7:00 am PST – Sharp!

Caltrans requires that the Vincent Thomas Bridge must be re-opened no later than 10:00 am. Accordingly, participants that are still on the Bridge at 9:00 am will be picked up by a van and taken down to Harbor Blvd. to finish the Race. This is mandated by Caltrans, and is not negotiable!

Yes. We are pleased to announce that the LAPD Harbor Area Booster Club will once again receive a portion of the proceeds from this race which benefits youth programs administered by the LAPD Harbor Division Cadet Program.

In order to do this race properly, and to receive permission to close the Vincent Thomas Bridge, there have been considerable efforts to do so without interrupting the residents and businesses in the area. The HARBOR BLVD. exit off the 110-Harbor Freeway must be closed at 4:00 am. Participants are encouraged to exit at Gaffey Street, TURN LEFT, and take Gaffey to either 5th, 6th, or 7th Streets, and turn left and go down towards Harbor Blvd. to park. The beauty of computers is you can locate anything… You are encouraged to follow all posted traffic signs, and where LAPD is stationed it is highly advisable that you obey their traffic coordination. They know what they are doing and we need them to do this race properly.

START/FINISH line is located where 5th st. and Harbor Blvd. meet

***PARKING MAP ON HOME PAGE***

As many of you may know, the long-awaited and exciting West Harbor Development Complex has broken ground in the former Ports of Call Parking lots and surrounding areas. There is always ample parking on Race Day and we are working to accommodate your parking needs. We will post a detailed and printable parking map prior to Race Day which outlines options for your consideration. Further, metered street parking is offered free due to the Labor Day Holiday, however, please do not park in any areas marked as No Parking. Please note that Conquer The Bridge is not responsible for late arrivals. Please be on time.

No. For security purposes, no bags or backpacks will be permitted on the bridge whatsoever. This is non-negotiable. Bags are subject to security-check by a law enforcement official. CTB staff are unable to hold any personal items, including at the stage, so please plan accordingly. However, camel packs and fanny packs are permitted.

Electronic chip timing is the most accurate timing system available and allows your time to start when you reach the actual starting line mats, instead of when the race starts. Age group awards are determined by a strip timing device. Winners will be determined based on time as recorded by their timing chip.

NO RUNNING NUMBER ON THE FRONT, NO TIME! Again, make sure you wear it and cross the start and finish time mats. There is no alternative timing system. Additionally, finishers medals are reserved for registered finishers only. If you do not have the current year’s bib you will not receive a medal.

There are 8 expansion grates on the Vincent Thomas Bridge. On race day, in conjunction with Caltrans, they will be covered with a new compressed rubber matting system, and covered with outdoor carpeting as well, that will allow for runners to safely cross over the grates.

There will be cones, and a volunteer that will direct the runners and walkers over the mats. This new system is a first and was created by people who were concerned about your safety first and foremost

Yes. Cost to register on RACE DAY is $60.00. It is strongly recommended that you sign up prior to race day. Please note that registration is subject to closing early if capacity is met. We encourage everyone to register as soon as possible to secure your spot.

Your Race Day experience will be greatly enhanced if you can just arrive, visit with friends and other runners, and not have to stand in lines when you could be enjoying the best of San Pedro.

That would be no.

Yes.  You can register with your credit card for the race.

That would be NO due to extreme risk to other runners and your dog. We do not allow participants to run/walk with dogs or with strollers.

Please respect this and have your child and babysitter be your #1 fans at the race. Caltrans has also stated that we cannot allow dogs or infants, nor bicycles or skateboards on the Bridge.

Yes: 13-and under; 14-18; 19-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70-79; 80 and over with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals (M & F).

There will also be a Championship Trophy awarded to the first Female and Male finishers after they complete the race. Please join us at the stage.

Please make sure you pick up your division place medal at the stage on race day.

Finishers medals will be passed out to everyone at the Finish line (no current bib = no medal; one finishers medal per registered finisher)

None at this time.

There will be mounted markers at every mile.

OK, excellent question! The LA City Fire Department has requested that ALL runners and walkers use the RIGHT LANES only when crossing the Bridge.

The 8 grate coverings for safe passage will be placed in the right lanes, and will be marked by cones and a volunteer. After making the U-turn back up towards the Bridge and San Pedro, your final ascent will take you back up to the well-marked RIGHT LANE to cross the Bridge to the Harbor Blvd. Exit.

RUN IN THE RIGHT LANES on the Bridge and enjoy the amazing views, they are fantastic!

Should you require medical assistance or if you wish to come down off of the bridge please notify one of our volunteers. Medical personnel will be on site and LAPD Harbor Division will have a van available to provide transport should you wish to come down from the bridge.

NOTES:

Please be sure to go under the blue monster archways when starting the race so you will cross over the timing strip which will activate your timing chip on your bib.

Please be sure to stay on the right side of the road and to follow the cones.

To start the race, runners will be sent in wave one and immediately following them will be our walkers in wave two. Your race time will not begin until you cross the timing strip under the Blue Monster archways.

Please be sure to run over mats on the bridge grates.

Please be on time. CTB is not responsible for late arrivals.

START/FINISH line is located where 5th st. and Harbor Blvd. meet

Yes. Water stations and port-a-potties will be provided.

ABSOLUTELY!

Conquer The Bridge LLC, in association with our Non-Profit Partners, the L.A.P.D. Harbor Division Booster Club Cadets, and a host of volunteers produce and administer the numerous tasks needed to make the race possible. Without them it would be impossible to produce Conquer The Bridge.

If you see a volunteer please let them know you appreciate them.

No. Due to extreme danger to other runners/walkers these are not allowed per order of CalTrans.
